Find out what triggers stomach cramps
How it works and what happens when you get cramps
Healthy diet
Your stomach cramps may be caused by certain "trigger" foods e.g. spicy foods, foods cooked in certain oils, seafood etc. Unfortunately, even some healthy foods can cause stomach cramps e.g. some vegetables and pulses, and also fruits containing fructose or sorbitol such as prunes and apricots. The best way to find out if you have a sensitivity to certain foods is by keeping a food diary for a month recording all the things you eat and drink and noting down any symptoms you experience afterwards. You can then try experimenting with your diet by cutting back or avoiding these triggers to see if you can avoid getting stomach cramps.
Use the abdominal health diary at www.ibs-relief.co.uk/diary to help record your diet and symptoms accurately.
