The following lifestyle tips are generally suggested, which may help improve

- Eat small, regular meals, every four to five hours
- Don’t skip meals
- Avoid large meals and rich foods late at night
- Drink enough fluid
- Ensure adequate fibre intake
- Cut down on fat in the diet
- Limit caffeine and alcohol intake
- Quit smoking
- Take regular physical exercise
- Manage stress levels
- Making changes to diet can help to prevent abdominal cramping depending on its cause. Recommend customers try keeping a diary of what they eat over a couple of weeks to help to identify the foods that seem to trigger episodes. Recommend they try avoiding these foods for a while to see if there is any improvement.
- It may be helpful to cut out spicy and fatty foods from the diet, as well as
gas producing vegetables such as beans.
